I’ve just read that Imagine Fashion Designer it’s the best selling game that has been developed in Spain. And I’m more than happy to know it.
I’m happy because I’m so tired off the same old pattern when you talk about Spanish game development: La Abadia del Crimen - Spanish software’s golden era - Commandos
Fuck that shit!
Most of the people who talk about La Abadia de Crimen have never played it. Never. And they will never do it because nowadays it’s so outdated that (provided you’re not older than 25) you will tear apart your eyes because of the graphics, cut your hands because of the controls and blow your fucking head off because of the difficulty and bizarre rules of play. It hasn’t aged well. It was released in 1983. Two years before Super Mario Bros. Definitively it hasn’t aged well at all.
Great game in its time. The greatest, they say… It was never released outside Spain, so cut off that shit.
How about “Spanish software’s golden era” ? Spain on the head of the electronic entertainment industry for 8 bits machines. Has anybody ever read the entry on the wikipedia? You won’t lose much time if you do it, because it only have 5 fucking lines! 5 lines for God’s shake! And not even a single valid reference of any of it’s affirmations and, of course, it’s only in Spanish.
You want to know why I think it’s only in Spanish? I’ll tell you why: because nobody outside Spain gives a damn! “Spanish-software’s-golden-era” my ass.
Commandos was the best selling game in spanish game development history till Imagine Fashion Designer. It’s a great game and I think it’s aging very well.
I hope, I wish, that the Spanish “specialized media” starts to talk about games, gaming and game development and stop throwing away stupid cliches in every article they write. Those about the history of Spanish game development are not only cliches but pure lies.
